Here we are in Venice

Jackie and I left Rovinj this morning after walking downtown to try to find gifts from Croatia and then said good-bye to her family (who had been very kind and hospitable) and left town.  We drove to Motovun, a hill town north and east of Porec.  It reminded me of driving up up up the winding roads of the hilltowns near Nice France a few years ago.  Lovely views and the sun finally came out.

Then we hit the road and hightailed it to Venice, other than the A4 was full of truck traffic.  There were trucks lined up in the right lane not moving at all for miles – enough that we missed the first turn to the airport because we couldn’t move over to the right lane fast enough without being squished by a truck.  We did reach the airport tho, turned in the car and took the express bus to Pizzale Roma where we caught the water taxi along the Grand Canal to our stop and then walked (lugging our luggage – obviously the source of the term ‘luggage’) to the Convent where we are staying.  Dropped everything and went out to dinner somewhere — Venice being a city where you can wander and get lost and never see the place again (or at least it seems that way).  However, the dinner was tasty and we certainly felt better after that long jaunt from Croatia.

Then we set out to find an internet point.   There’s one close to the convent, but the connection was broken for some reason so we walked all over, hither and yon, looking for an internet point — over to Rialto, over to the Pizzale Roma again, to the Train Station and then finally found one.  So here we are, unable to upload pictures but at least can say hi before we catch the taxi back ‘home’.

Ciao!!!
