Mark & I decided to go to Crete, never having been there, so made arrangements and all was fine until we were a part way to Atlanta and the pilot explained there was a 'hydraulic issue' so we landed in St. Louis, Delta rebooked us via Atl;anta-Madrid-Athens, but that was too late for our flight from Athens to Chania & car and hotel there. But, otherwise, the flights were fine and people very helpful and accommodating. We have a flight out at 630am from Athens to Chania, and then we'll get started all over. So, we lost some time, but the first days are jetlagged anyway and we should be much better tomorrow anyway. I should note that my luggage was 'lost' but through the marvels of modern computers, scanning numbers and good work by the various airlines involved, it's on its way to Athens and I'll meet it in Chania, and THEN we can set off for our jaunt around that island.
